Silver Ball 2011

Onyx Intentions Dress
I work for our local Hospice Society, and we are planning for our biggest fundraiser of the year, our Silver Ball!  I think one of the most stressful parts of planning this event is what I should wear!  I decided on this dress from the Mod Cloth website.  I really think it will be adorable!  (and it's on sale!)  It says it shipped today, and will take 3-6 buisness days to reach me, the ball is on February 5th and I'm getting a little anxious to get it!  What if it doesn't fit, maybe I shouldn't have had that cookie, what if it doesn't arrive in time.....!!!!!  Oh my goodness, I must make a plan B!  Anyhoo, check out this amazing website, I'M IN LOVE.

Fawn cards

I'm so in love with these little fawns!  This thinking of you card was made with origami paper that was given to me by a friend, ribbon from a scrap swap, and the Thinking of you sentiment (cut as 2")  and fawn (cut at 3.5") were cut from the Cindy Lou cartridge.

This is the first card I made with the Cindy Lou cartridge, and I LOVE it!

What could be sweeter than a fawn smelling a poppy?  This little love fawn (cut at 3.5") and the sentiment (cut at 2") were cut with the Give a Hoot cartridge, origami paper was used again, and this ribbon is from Joanne.

I can't help but smile when I look at these cute dear!

Pear and Good Luck cards

I guess I was missing Summer when I made this pear card the other day!  The pear is from the Cricut Solutions Home Accents cartridge and was cut at 4".

I made this Good Luck card for a friend of mine.  She love black squirrels  and thinks they bring good luck when seen in the morning.

This good luck squirrel was cut with the Winter Woodland cartridge at 3.5", the paper is origami paper, and the ribbon is from a scrap swap.

I love animals

Me and baby Roofus 2006.  He was such a great pup!
My husband and I went for an overnight hike up "secret" mountain.  The only way I would go was if I didn't have to carry my pack.  So, Justin rented a llama for me!  Me and Randy got on really well!
No animal can resist my chin scratches.  Not even this young buck!

Cupcake Girls!

Once you eat all the icing, it's just a healthy muffin!

I think she likes it!
I love everything about this shop!

Matryoshka doll rattle!

These sweet matryoshka dolls baby rattles/teethers are lovingly stuffed with a non allergenic ploy fill, a tiny bell, and a small amount of organic French lavender.

When you little one is not playing with it you can hang it hang it on the outside of the crib, as research has confirmed that lavender produces a calming, soothing effect when inhaled.

Their backside! ;)

Or, if you don't have a little one, you can hang them in your wardrobe, car, or anywhere that you could use a lovely burst of freshness.

Handmade Matryoshka Doll Teatowels

So you may have guessed by now that I love Matryoshka dolls!  I always have.  I think it must be because my ancestors came from the Old Country.  But really, who doesn't love a doll in a doll in a doll in a doll in a doll!

Handmade Stuffies

I'm still learning how to sew, and I decided to make my own version of the Ugly Doll!  These sweet guys turned out to be a sub species of the Teddy Bear.  But sub species need love too!

Hopefully you can tell what these guys are!  Owls!  My husband didn't think I should add Matryoshka doll fabric to their bellies, when I asked why he answered, "Have you ever seen a bear or an owl with dolls on their belly?".  Oh, Justin.

Kiva loans

My Aunt and Uncle gave a Christmas gift to my family that was a donation to Kiva loans.  This charity loans money to people in need in order for them to better themselves.  The money is then paid back to you and then you can loan it to another entrepreneur in need.  My parents elected me to figure out who to loan this money to.   I must admit I felt uncomfortable with this decision. To pick from hundreds of people and say no to so many was a strange feeling. But here it is:

Open air terrarium

I just finished my open air terrarium!  To make yours start with a clean vase, add clean pebbles, a thin layer of Spanish Moss (I found mine  at our local dollar store) a layer of soil, add a plant and the top layer of moss (I found this moss in my parents yard!)
These cute Knickkancks or Kitchky's as my friend Carolyne calls them, add a whimsical touch.  These mushrooms and sweet little fawn were purchased on etsy.

I hope everyone had a wonderful first day of the year!  I took my dog Roofus for a nice walk and sat in the sun for awhile (all bundled up of course!) and being part Mennonite I made sure to have some Portzelky!  A deep fried raisin filled fritter that is sprinkled with icing sugar and dipped in Maple Syrup.  mmmmm  so good!  Too bad we only make them one day a year!  Here's a recipe if you want to try them out!
