Fieldstone Vintage Market ~ Sep 24th 2011

The Fieldstone Vintage Market was something out of a dream!  Everywhere you looked you saw tents full of vintage goods!  More then one customer told me they were overwhelmed with all the lovely items!

The Eco Dairy was the PERFECT venue!  The weather was perfect and we even had some beautiful Friesen horses as neighbors!

My Opechee booth!  I was at my booth for 11 hrs that day, and it felt like 5 min!

My handmade rings displayed on an antique tea cup.

My tea cups were quite popular that day.  Too bad they aren't for sale, I could have sold them 10 times over!  This hound dog tea cup was particularity popular!

Check out photos by Sharalee Prang and you'll find Opechee at 1:47!

I'm so excited!  Opechee has been chosen to be a part of the Fieldstone Vintage Market  September 24, 2011!  I've been busy making new upcycled treasures and planning my booth for this fantastic event.  It is going to be an outdoor market at the Eco Dairy, with over 50 vendors selling handcrafted and vintage items!

dinner for 2

I just got back from my little brother in laws garden.  He is quite the gardener, he has a plot that he rents at our local community garden, and I filled up my little basket with fresh, organic veggies!  I'm so inspired, and am already planning my plot for next year!

We finally had some nice weather here, so I decided it was time to use my freshly pressure washed patio.  My dinner for one turned into dinner for two!  Don't you think Roofus makes a handsome date? :)

Osoyoos Lake get away

We recently spent 8 days at our cabin on Osoyoos Lake!  8 days with no cell phone, tv or internet.  Pure peace.  We spent a lot of time at the lake, rented a jet ski, read books, and played fetch with Roofus.

This is at Blue Lake, a little lake hidden in the desert mountain.  My hubby went cliff jumping and poor Roofus was so upset.  I literaly had to hold on to his collar with both hands while he wimpered and shook with worry!  When I let him go he bolted down the trial to go rescue his master!  This is him swimming out to save him.

One of my favorite vacation activities is antiquing!  Justin on the other hand, not so much!  I can spend hours going from store to store finding the perfect unique treasure!  My hubby says all the stores have the same thing... junk!  Well I guess the saying is true, one man's junk is another's treasure!

This beautiful Osprey made it's home right in front of our cabin.  I knew there was a reason why this dead tree wasn't cut down!

Our family has always been boaters.  We practlically lived on the lake in the summer time!  (and we did wear live vests, just took them off for the pic!)

Our cute little red cabin!  Just looking at these pics makes me want to go again!  Maybe this weekend....

Love birds card

A simple card made with upcycled cardstock, scrap paper, and a sweet stamp.  I really love using bits and pieces of paper.  I usually throw most of my scraps away, but I think I'll start hording again!

Rouladen

Rouladen is my husband's favorite traditional German dish.  So I decided that I would attempt to make it, and of course share it with all of you!   This recipe works best if you buy beef in rouladen cuts.  There are many ways to make this Germain dish, but this is my mother in law's recipe.  I hope she doesn't mind me sharing!

Lay out the beef strips, lightly salt and pepper them.

Add chopped onions.

Add a strip of bacon (THE BEST PART!!!).

And roll!  Secure with a toothpick.  Pan fry over a medium heat to brown on all sides preheat oven to 350 degrees.  For the gravy combine 2 cans of mushroom soup with one package of onion soup mix.  Remove the toothpicks, place rouladen in a dish and pour gravy over them.  Cover and cook for 1 hour.   Serve with wild rice and asparagus for a DELICIOUS meal!

Hospice Events

I work at our local Hospice Society and last week we held our annual Charity Golf Tournament at a local Golf & Country Club.   As a non-profit organization we rely on fundraisers like our annual charity golf tournament as well as donations from individuals and organizations to enable us to meet the needs of current and future generations.   With local support and participation we have made an immediate and tangible difference in our community.

Since golf is now over, I've started planning our upcoming gala (Feb 2012).  I thought I would get a head start on this one!  So why not start planning now?!!??  I've come up with the theme:  Venetian Carnival!  A romantic evening which will be a formal (Black Tie Optional / Mask mandatory!) and extravagant event with an Old World feel.  I'm thinking dark mood lighting, candelabras, Opera music, silk acrobats, fire breathers, men on stilts, tigers in cages.....  I tend to get carried away, but you get the idea!  I LOVE this mask, and think it might have to be the start of my gala 2012 dress!

Kitty card

I have to say I'm not much of a cat person.  But I really do like this one!  I used the Create a Critter cart and cut the kitty at 4 inches.    The paper is by DCWV "The Pets Stack", and the lovely heart ribbon is from my local paper shop, Paper Nation.

Stamps vs. Cricut

I'm not to sure about this card, or how I feel about stamping!  Maybe I would like stamping more if I was better at it, whenever I stamp, I feel so nervous, that I'll not press hard enough, press to hard and cause the ink to bleed...

I think I'll stick to using my cricut, I like the effect SOOO much better!  I do like stamps for the sentament, I think I'll stick to that!

This sweet bird cage was cut with the "Straight from the Nest" cart cut at 4 inches. I love how the bling for an eye adds that extra punch!

Love Rocks!

After I found the perfect river rocks I used Mod Podge to adhere fabric hearts to  one side.   Do this first, as it only takes about 20 min for the Mod Podge to dry.  I love how the Mod Podge product looks like it did 30 years ago!

Some of the fabric hearts.

Then I stamped clever sayings on the back side of the rock.  I used Versa Ink as it is a higher quality ink and lasts longer then other inks.  It does take quite a while to dry, so don't touch it for at least 24 hrs.  Don't Mod Podge the stamped side.

The finished Love Rocks!

This is a great project for kids, and adults alike!  Give it a try, and when you do, add a link to your post in comments,  I'd love to see your Love Rocks!  :)
