Stamped cards

Last night I did something I thought I would never do....... make a card without my cricut! I am not a fan of stamping, and went to a stampin' up class with a friend. Wouldn't you know it I fell in LOVE with this stamp set. The vintage birdcages are so sweet I had to have them! This set is the Aviary set and is so adorable!

I bought some ink from stampin' up as well, and found some great colours at Michael's for $1.50! I used the Provo craft Cuttlebug Swiss Dotts folder for the embosing, and the sheer ribbon was a find at a craft swap.

My sister gave me this retired stampin' up set for Christmas, I don't remember what the name is, I'll check back soon with that.   I used my Michael's ink for the purple flower, and some sparkels for the center.  Another Provo craft embossing folder, this one is called Birds and Swirls.

So, I decided that I do like stamps, but I will NOT be giving up my cricut anytime soon!

P.S. Happy New Year!

The last of the Christmas crafts!

I made this Christmas plaque for my sister. I had cut out the lettering with my cricut last year and don't remember what size or cartridge I used! But I think it turned out pretty well!

My first attempt at a tri fold card. I love this technique and will be making more in the future! It's such a great way to use up my scrap paper bits! The stamp and paper is from stampin' up, and the stamp reads, "welcome Christmas into your heart".

Christmas 2010

Well, it's all over. The presents all opened the tree and decorations are all put away. We had a wonderful time with friends and family, but I am so happy to have a clean condo once again!

I was on Santa's nice list this year, were you?

Opposites Attract

They say that opposites attract, and that sure is the case with my husband Justin and I! While I'm content taking a stroll in the park, crafting and reading he gets his kicks...

being a brakeman for a new bobsled pilot,

squatting over 5oolbs,

and frolicking through the forest with just a bow and arrow! I guess life would not be as entertaining in our household if he was just another novel lover!

I made these sweet little green earrings last week, and really love how they sparkle! They are hung on sterling silver french wires, and are quite lovely! I'm considering making a matching necklace. I'll keep you posted!

The tree is up!

We (and when I say we I mean I) finally put up our Christmas tree last night! I've been wanting to put the tree up for quite some time now, but we live in a small appartment and are kinda squished when the tree is up! I figured my husband can deal with it for one week! My doggie Roofus is a little put out as well as I had to move his mat to make a spot for the tree. He keeps looking at me with a "What the heck?!?!" expression. It's only 6 days! Deal.

I adopted this owl from Pier One Imports. I saw him there last Christmas, and decided to wait until Boxing Day to buy him.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxing_day) And of course when Boxing Day came around there were none left!!!! Not this year little owl, not this year!
